Certain types of asbestos-containing materials can only be handled by a contractor holding a licence issued by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), due to the hazardous nature and high potential for fibre release. This includes sprayed asbestos coatings, asbestos insulation (lagging), and the majority of work involving Asbestos Insulating Board (AIB). These materials are classified as friable, meaning they are more likely to release airborne fibres when disturbed—posing a significant health risk if not managed correctly.

At DMG Asbestos Management Ltd, we are a fully HSE-licensed asbestos removal contractor, authorised to carry out the removal, encapsulation, and abatement of high-risk asbestos-containing materials (ACMs). Holding a licence demonstrates that we meet the rigorous competency, safety, and management standards required by the HSE to undertake work with the most dangerous forms of asbestos under fully controlled conditions.

As a licensed contractor, DMG has the legal authorisation, technical expertise, and experienced workforce to manage these risks safely and effectively. We adhere to strict procedures in line with HSG247, comply fully with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, and ensure every project is underpinned by detailed risk assessments, site-specific plans of work, and independent air monitoring by UKAS-accredited analysts.

Whether you’re planning a refurbishment, demolition, or responding to unexpected asbestos discovery or damage, you can rely on DMG to deliver a safe, legally compliant, and professional solution—every time.

DMG Asbestos Management carry out non-licensed asbestos removal

Examples of non-licensed materials are:

  • Asbestos garages, sheds, out-buildings

  • Asbestos cement sheets
  • Asbestos cement soffits, gutters, downpipes
  • Asbestos cement flue’s
  • Asbestos floor tiles
  • Asbestos textured coatings (Artex)
  • Asbestos bitumen products

DMG Asbestos Management hold a hazardous waste carriers licence and offer an asbestos waste collection service.

Asbestos waste must be placed in suitable packaging to prevent fibres being released. Asbestos waste bags can be utilised. For larger intact sections, polythene sheeting should be utilised. DMG Asbestos Management can provide a bagging/wrapping service if required.

Asbestos waste should only be handled by a licensed disposal site. Commercial waste must be transported by a licensed waste carrier and waste consignment notes must be completed and records retained.
